I am an sad because of resale values. Not that I would ever buy one brand new, no sir, but there is no longer a rolling supply of depreciated Land Cruisers available.

Given the lack of depreciation today, I’m not sure it’s going to be significantly worse tomorrow.

I mean, by the time I would/could buy one, it might be 25 years old anyway, so maybe it doesn’t matter? LOL

The source is a business manager at a Toyota dealership.  I wouldn’t call it official by any means.

Hopefully not.

Yes but there are no longer new ones so people who might have wanted one new will be buying used. The supply has been cut off and the number of people who both want and can afford one will only grow.

Toyota really needs to do another FJ. They’re doing fine with the 4Runner, and this now 10 year-old 5th gen is the only actually-roomy 4Runner. But there’s totally room for an FJ. It’d sell like hotcakes.

I think you’re right. Maybe the demand for the Bronco will convince them.

The people I’ve talked to that work for Toyota don’t seem too phased by the rumors.

Well in terms of what an LC was, the 4Runner TRD Pro is basically a Land Cruiser, it’s probably bigger than an FJ60 . We don’t get the other ones so that is our USA Land Cruiser.

I will say, it doesn’t make much sense for them to offer them both in the States at such similar trim levels and price points. Goes against the ethos, maybe, but offering the Land Cruiser with cloth seats on a base model and less lux features for $10k less may be an idea for additional sales.

Wow, this is some bullshit! I have wanted a LC for many years. I mean i guess i was never going to drop 85k on a new one though. But this will only up the price of the ones remaining, i would guess.

Sad news.

They did what they could with what safety regulations and budget would allow for a very niche vehicle not too long ago...

Well, the Land Cruiser hasn’t been offered in Canada since 1995 or 1996.

I did not know that. Is that because Canadians are too smart to buy something that expensive to drive on Canadian roads & salt?

Lexus LXs still sell in Canada, and are frequently stolen , too .

I was really hoping Toyota would release a new LC that got better mileage. The awful gas mileage  is the only thing holding me back from getting one today.

I get why Toyota used the engine that they used for as long as they did; it’s reliable and powerful . But it’s a different age. They should either offer an electric version ( which would probably have more horsepower and torque than the 5.7L V8) or at least a hybrid version. I think Chris Harris made a comment about the DBX being a great SUV but not really fitting in with the times because of the awful gas mileage. Toyota has been avoiding the EV bandwagon. They need to hop on before they get left behind.

They sell plenty if these around the world to people who couldn’t care less about fuel economy. Their mistake was marketing them in the US to people who care about fuel economy rather than people who would actually use them.

I think the only asterisks would be the majority of the worldwide  are the 3.0 or 4.4 turbo diesel.
